Don’t mow in the peak of the heat during the day. Evening time is ideal, especially if your lawn is in shade by then.
Keep the blade on your lawn mower sharp! A blunt blade causes the mower to rip the grass and in turn put more stress on the plant.
Little and often is the key. As a minimum you should mow weekly to help the grass to tiller and thicken. (It takes less time the more you mow as you empty the grass box less!)
A gentle rake before you mow, on any stalky areas will keep Poa Annua at bay.
Not too short. Keep the sward length a little longer (4-5cms) so the blades of grass have more surface area and so can retain any moisture easily. Never use a low setting on your mower, halfway is far enough.
Mow in different directions once a month. This allows the mower to catch any blades of grass that have been pushed flat by your mower.
Look out for small brown circles that can be caused by ants. Fork the patch and use ant powder. Then wash in after 48hrs.
Fertilise. Use a lower nitrogen but increased potassium fertiliser to harden the plant to periods of drought. Or contact Blades Of Glory Lawn Care for professional treatment.
Always follow this with a long, cool drink, for both the lawn and yourself. You deserve it!
The lawn will need 1hr on each area 2-3 times a week in temperatures above 25degrees.
